Parents startled that Kerala man asks only ‘50 sovereigns of gold’ as dowry

Parents of a woman looking for a suitable groom were startled to find a Malayalee man who asked only ‘gold’ as dowry. “We have looked at hundreds of profiles on ‘Chavaramatrimony.com’ and contacted grooms that we short listed according to our ‘needs,’ however none of them asked for only ‘50 sovereigns’ of gold. The grooms parents and relatives normally start asking for ‘200 sovereigns’ or more of gold and other material things and we bargain and bring it down to ‘100 sovereigns, a car, house, vessels, healthy kidney’s that can be sold etc.’” This is a startling development in our search for a suitable groom.

On asked by this reporter if they would like to get their daughter married to this man, the prospective bride’s father said that they have asked him to submit blood reports, ECG, brain scan, CT Scan, EEG and all the medical tests available in any private lab. “We are also checking ancestry.com to trace if he is a ‘real Malayalee’ or not. If this is true it’s a ‘miracle.’ We are praying everyday for answers as well, he trailed off.”
